What Happened To The Planned Area Outside of PNC Park
Last year there were discussions about an area across from PNC Park where people could gather before a game. There was supposed to be a large TV screen where people could see videos. The Pirates were supposedly behind the construction of this area. At one time I read that it would be something on the line like the Cubs have outside Wrigley Field. I have never been to Chicago so I am not sure what the area is like outside Wrigley. I am not sure if this plan by the Pirates has fallen through because nothing recently has been mentioned about it. The last thing I read was that drivers going across one of the bridges could be distracted by looking at the large TV screen.

Right now they are finally working on the surface of Red Lot 6, right across from PNC Park, a favorite lot for tailgating. It's about to be no more.
Condos were supposed to already have gone up, and now it looks like construction is finally on it's way. Along with all that have been a myriad of proposals, like what you were talking about, but as time and money go by, things are changing.
Next time I'm at a game I'm taking a picture of the lot, and kind of see where it goes before and after style. I'm really sad to lose the lot, because it's right across from my entrance into the park, and I love tailgating there.
Thousands of surface spots have now disappeared on the North Shore, and tailgating is slowly going to start being a thing of the past. It really comes down to one's own personal perspective. I like to tailgate, but I don't every time, and if I'm not tailgating, the garages are just as convenient, if not more so for me, when I come to an even or game. At least the parking isn't disappearing, it's just going into garages now.

It was supposed to be ready by opening day. However part of the plaza will not be finished until later in the summer.
I’m flying in from California for the Padre series so I will check it out
