The 1961 Pirates only stole 26 bases and were caught 30 times. Joe Christopher led the team, stealing 6 bases in 10 tries. Bill Virdon was second with 5 steals in 13 tries. The 26 steals were the lowest SB total in MLB and they were the only team caught stealing more than they were successful.
