Not a tennis fan or player, but there is a tennis match going on right now that has been going for over two days!

Wow

The longest professional tennis match, in terms of both time and total games, was the Wimbledon 2010 first-round match between Nicolas Mahut and John Isner on June 22, 23, and 24, 2010. It lasted 183 games and required 11 hours and 5 minutes of playing time. The match also set duration records for:

Longest set by time and games: The fifth set of the match required 138 games played over 8 hours and 11 minutes.
Longest play in a single day: The first 118 games of the fifth set, played on 23 June 2010, lasted 7 hours and 6 minutes. This time is longer than the entire Nelson-Hepner match (below) and all other matches in tennis history.
Most games in a single day: 118, on the 23 June.

Is there a special rule that the fifth set at Wimbledon can't end in a tie-breaker?  I don't even remotely follow tennis but I know that normally, when a set is tied, they go to a tie-breaker, though I'm not sure how it's scored.  Maybe it's just in the fifth set where you have to win by at least two games.

I don't follow it either, but one of the articles I was just reading said Wimbledon has no tie-breaker rule.

There are no tie-breaks in the fifth set at any of the Slams.
