The first ever runoff in the OBN Polls! At least it's for these 2 guys and not the 29th and 30th place guys.
Unless people switch their votes (Optimist might), we're really courting those 14 votes who didn't vote for either of these two guys.
One day to vote for this...poll closes 7 am on Saturday.

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with ties? Couldn't we rank both Lincoln and Tabata as 2nd and move on to the vote for #4?

I don't have a problem with ties if there are only 2 choices. There were votes out there (albeit not many) that could sway the voting one way or another. So if it is still tied after this runoff, then they are both #2 (which goes against my nature of needing everything resolved, but so be it).

I voted last time for Lincoln, so I did again. But really, it is a toss-up for me and if Tabata wins, I am great with that.

Maybe if there were more than two guys tied it makes sense, but these guys are numbers two and three no matter what happens. What difference does it make? Or are we voting for number three next, in which case we already know the outcome? Those other votes were basically throw away votes as far as I'm concerned. Those that voted for other than Tabata or Lincoln knew their guy wouldn't win, but were obviously trying to make a statement. A runoff nullifies that. As far as I'm concerned they are still both number 2. Now we have to wait another day in order to get on with this exercise. It's a waste of time.

I like the runoff, but I think whoever loses should be number 3 since the arguments will generally repeat themselves for either Lincoln or Tabata. Then again, it's your poll DBS, so do whatever you like.

As long as we don't start debating the shape of the table . . . .

Round is obviously better than square, although perhaps oblong is best of all. My many reasons are as follows...

Table? What table? Are there chairs at the table? How many people are at this table? I mean if there are only two then a triangle shape makes no sense whatsoever!

I think DBS's method is a reasonable way to proceed. In this instance, you have two players who are way ahead of everyone else. If the vote is closer among 4 or 5 players, though, the guy who is second doesn't necessarily move up to No. 1 in the next round.

My philosophy is like the movie Highlander...."There can be only one" Using myself as an example, I voted for Lincoln at #2, but I know that Tabata is not my #3 so I wouldn't want to automatically anoint him as such. I'm sure there are others with similar feelings on who they want to be #3. It looks like Tabata will be #2, so maybe someone doesn't want Lincoln at 3. Everyone should have a say to vote for their player, even if they don't have a reasonable shot at winning that particular poll. I know my #3 won't beat Lincoln/Tabata, but I'm voting for him anyway and will defend my reasoning.
